EVANGELISM WITH A TWIST

Although skeptics demand evidence, it is extremely rare that they are amenable to the evidence. In fact, I’ve observed that they have set up many barriers against the evidence.

Therefore, you might try another tact. People are more amenable to experiences and feelings. So let’s offer them another alternative – the very offer that Scripture makes – to investigate the claims of the Gospel. Let’s invite them to try it on for size:

·       Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! (Psalm 34:8)

If we make a move towards God, He makes a move towards us. How would we do this? By trying God out by doing His will, His teachings! This is the way Jesus put it:

·       “If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.” (John 7:17)

It’s like trying on a pair of shoes and walking in them for a while. This is the best way to know if they will fit. While you cannot leave with the store’s shoes on, you can do this with Jesus’ shoes. You can even run in them, and He will let you know if they fit, that is, if you really want to know.
