WHY JUSTICE NOW LOOKS LIKE INJUSTICE

Why do feminists not speak out against the Islamic abuses of women? Why do those Jewish people who pledge themselves to "never again" not speak out against the present holocausts of Islam against Jews and non-Jews alike? Why do gays not cry out against the treatment of gays in Muslim nations or even in Orlando?

I think that the answer is simple - spiritual blindness. But from where does such blindness come? From our unwillingness to see:

  • Those who forsake the law [of God] praise the wicked, but those who keep the law [the Word] strive against them. Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it completely.‭‭(Proverbs‬ ‭28:4-5;‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Do they not really understand justice? It seems evident. Rapes are being dismissed because, "that's just part of their culture" or "they are not responsible" or because "justice is just relative - a social/cultural creation."

Why is this happening? Scripture informs us that when we reject the God of the Bible, we also reject rationality and wisdom. When reject Him, we also reject anything that reminds us of Him:

  • Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. ‭‭(Ephesians‬ ‭4:17-19‬)

When we harden ourselves against God, we also harden ourselves against the things of God - like wisdom and justice - and become callous. When this calcification comes, resistance against evil is numbed and what had before looked like evil now looks acceptable and tempting. And when we ourselves are entrenched in greed and adultery, we can no longer point the finger at others, just at those who demand justice.
