MY LETTER TO A SEEKER

You raise some good points, and I appreciate the fact that you are a truth seeker and, as such, you are seeking objective evidence. However, you made a statement that you might want to reexamine:

·       I therefore have chosen not to use such forms of evidence as reliable as I cannot do so objectively, I can only pick and choose selectively which I do not wish to do in the interest of truth.

We can evaluate historical or testimonial evidence. This is precisely what a juror is called upon to do. (I am presuming that you believe that there must be an Intelligent Designer. Please correct me if I am wrong.)

There is really a lot of evidence for the miracles of Jews. In fact, the Talmud has many citations that affirm this fact. http://mannsword.blogspot.com/2010/10/fellowshipping-with-atheists-in.html  However, it also claims that Jesus had performed these many miracles by the power of the devil.

Even skeptical scholars of the radical Jesus Seminar acknowledge, based upon the historical evidence, that Jesus performed miracles:

·       “On historical grounds it is virtually indisputable that Jesus was a healer and exorcist.” Marcus Borg (JS)

·       “Throughout his life, Jesus performed healings and exorcisms for ordinary people.” John Dominic Crossan (JS)

You also wrote:

This is certainly true of the Gospel of Luke in which he admits that his Gospel is the results of many interviews. However, it is entirely conjectural to claim that this applies to the other three Gospels.

However, wading your way through the many claims and counter-claims is laborious. There is an easier way to learn if the Scriptures are of God. Pray for the truth (something I had been unwilling to do until confronted by Christ while bleeding to death from a chainsaw injury). Jesus had promised:

·       “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)
